JOINT CARE

We have been provided bones as infrastructure. The meeting points of various bones in our body are structured with a synovial fluid for friction free movement and ligaments for stability as also muscles attached to bones thru tendons for range of movements. These are called Joints. In some joints like our backbone there are discs for stability and movements. Wear and tear mechanism wears out these joints giving rise to discomfort and pain especially on movement. Lifestyle plays a big role in keeping joints healthy.

Reasons for Joint Problem

  • Joint Mobility - Mobility within a joint is the degree to which the area where two bones meet is allowed to move before restricted by the sorrounding tissue such as tendons, muscle and ligaments.
  • Joint Pain - The Knee Joint is Probably the most frequently damaged joint and is particularly vulnerable as it takes the full weight of your body.
  • Inflammation - If you've injured the joint recently and it suddenly becomes painful again, the thin layer of tissue lining the joints and tendons may be inflamed – a condition called traumatic synovitis. It usually doesn't cause any redness or heat.
  • Bone Health - Bones play many roles in the body – Providing structure, Protecting organs, Anchoring muscles and Storing calcium. While it’s important to build strong and healthy bones during childhood and adolescence, you can take steps during adulthood to protect bone health, too.

  • Gout or Pseudogout - If the skin over the joint is hot and red, and the pain comes in repeated attacks, the cause is likely to be either gout or pseudogout.
